Vesalius Start To The Top
Through 1529 till 1533, Vesalius went to the Catholic University of Leuven. Following in his family footsteps he studied at the medical school of the University of Paris from 1533 to 1536. There he learn the concept of dissecting animals, not only that but he also got the opportunity to dissect human cadavers. From doing so, Vesalius devoted a portion of his time to the study of human bones which he got easily from cemeteries. During 1536, Vesalius returned to the Catholic University of Leuven which the influence of Arab medicine was still dominant. Vesalius prepared a paraphrase of a 10th century Arab physician's work which earned him all the requirements to receive his bachelor of medicine degree in the year of 1537. To achieve more in his studies, Vesalius attended the University of Padua which was a progressive university that had a strong tradition of anatomical dissection. Later on, he also ended up receiving the M.D. degree the same year. Not only that but Vesalius was also appointed to give lectures on surgery and also had the responsibility of giving anatomical demonstrations. He was known for being devoted to his work, Vesalius hated the idea of having to rely on untrained assistants to do dissections of cadavers. He insisted on doing them himself since he knew that the thorough knowledge of the human anatomy was like essential to surgery.
